When one of the major events in our industry, the Food & Bio Cluster Global Summit '23, takes place on September 26th-27th, it won't be just an ordinary conference with a series of speakers on stage. Looking through the program, attendees will encounter the so-called Summit Labs, where ideas and solutions are conceived and further developed into a genuine movement towards a greener future.
The four Summit Labs will serve as the framework for discussions, new ideas, and solutions for a greener future.
As the Food & Bio Global Summit kicks off on September 26th this year, it will feature a packed program with relevant speakers and cross-border networking. This first summit of its kind comes with great ambitions to make a real difference rather than just talking about things. However, taking action requires the right framework and tools, which is why the program includes the so-called Summit Labs among a great line of speakers.
The term "Summit Lab" refers to the intention of creating a space where investigations are conducted, scenarios are discussed, and ideas and solutions are tested in a controlled environment. In this context, the discussions will be chaired by selected experts from relevant institutions within specific themes for each laboratory. The four labs are as follows:
The Summit Labs are fitted into the program with the intention of making participants take part in the discussions and solutions. Hence, it is not only the invited speakers who will inform and enlighten the participants from stage, and the attendees have the opportunity to have their voices heard. The purpose of these labs is to include participants with real industry background, who deal with these challenges on a daily basis, in finding and proposing concrete actions to move things forward.
As indicated in the program, there is a substantial portion dedicated to the Summit Labs on both days of the event. The first day's lab session is intended for in-depth exploration of one of the four lab themes, where participants can utilise each other's experiences, challenges, and knowledge to identify specific topics that should be carried forward beyond the City Hall doors. Each of the four Summit Labs will be facilitated by experts in their respective fields, who will guide the discussions. The goal of the first day's Summit Labs is to identify a range of topics that will continue to develop even after the event ends on September 27th.
On the second day, the focus will be on solutions, with participants engaging in discussions and drawing inspiration from the speakers. By this point, there should be a fertile ground for thinking more specifically about concrete actions and specific solutions. Based on the ideas, proposed solutions, and specific challenges generated by the four different labs, a document in the form of a report will be produced. Moving forward, workshops will be planned annually to follow up on the most relevant challenges and proposed solutions from the report. The primary responsibility for implementing these solutions lies with the alliance that will continue to drive the movement forward. Participants will receive further information about this during the Food & Bio Global Summit '23.
The four themes for the Summit Labs have been selected based on Food & Bio Cluster Denmark's four guiding principles, reflecting the four most critical focus areas in the industry. When participants sign up for the Food & Bio Global Summit, they are asked to choose one of the four labs. Over the two days of the summit, they will have a significant influence on the initiatives taken forward. While there is free choice among the four themes, participants are encouraged to join the Summit Lab that aligns best with their insight and background for discussion, so that collectively, the best solutions can be achieved.

We'll see you on September 26-27 when we kickstart a movement that goes beyond mere discussions. With the introduction of Summit Labs, we hope and believe that we can place focus on real challenges and proposed solutions and create a genuine collective commitment to ensure that the movement does not stop here. We look forward to collaborating on the solutions in September at the City Hall in Aarhus.
